Welcome news of dedicated adolescent health unit under Health NZ

The Youth19 team welcomes news of a dedicated adolescent health unit under Health New Zealand, set to replace DHBs from July. Youth19 co-lead Dr Terryann Clark commented in an article for RNZ:

“Teens often fit awkwardly into the current health system, sometimes suiting neither the child model of care nor the adult services. This can be frustrating for both young people and the staff caring for them.

A dedicated service that is really honouring young people, their preferences and their needs is a wonderful idea.”
